Keyboarding for Home Users
Windows XP
1. Install Paradigm program. (Then create a
pkb folder on your pen drive)
2. Download from <http://www.emcp.com/files/PKB_conf.zip>,
click save, save to default location of
installed Paradigm program. C:\Program Files\Paradigm\Paradigm
Keyboarding
3. Open My Computer, go to C:\Program Files\Paradigm\Paradigm
Keyboarding\pkb_conf copy those 3 files to
C:\Program Files\Paradigm\Paradigm Keyboarding
4. Double click pkb_conf, change the Path
to Student ID Data to E:\pkb\ (or whichever
drive you will be using as your pen drive)
click apply, and then
exit.
5. Open Paradigm Keyboarding program.
6. Enter Student ID (If you are in
Keyboarding I, use
OIS104, or if you are in Keyboarding II,
use OIS114.), this is what you will
be logging in with.
7. One time only! Click Yes for Are you a
New Student?
8. Enter first name, middle initial, and last name.
Check the box to allow backspace and
delete.
9. Under Work and Scores Location, change to E:\
(or which ever drive you will be using as
your pen drive from above on line 4.)
10. Click OK.
11. exit and reopen and enter student ID.
The next time that you use your Student ID (Step #6), your information
will be filled in and then click OK. Be sure that the program is done
writing to your device before you remove your device.

High Speed Connection
1. Install Paradigm program with Snap. (Read the
book "User Guide")
**After starting program, get a .dll error
message (fix is for Vista)**
Directions to remove the Paradigm Keyboarding local files are as
follows:
1. Log in to Snap and launch any session.
2. Once a session has been launched (which may result in the runtime
error), press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on your
keyboard and select "Start Task Manager".
3. Click the "Processes" Tab.
4. Find the process named "PKB.EXE" and
right-click on it.
5. Select "open file location" from the
menu; this should open a new folder.
6. Without closing the folder, return to
the Snap program. Exit the program and
Internet Explorer entirely.
7. Return to the folder
Delete all of the contents of the folder.
(Ctrl+A = select all command)
After the contents have been deleted, you should be able to once again
log in to snap without the runtime error. |
